Tuesday 13th September – bike *** – Around Felixstowe – sunny periods.

Sunrise stroll ****

Woke at 6.25 to find Mag already out on her bike so I decided to the walk down to the prom at the end of our road to catch the sunrise. With sunrise at 6.26 I thought I would miss it but when I reached the prom at 6.37 a bank of cloud had delayed the sun so it was perfect timing and I managed to get a few lovely shots despite nearly running out of battery! On reaching home I posted them on Facebook and got some nice remarks, one was picked as BBC Editors Pick but was sadly not used on Look East this evening:( I then got a message from a Facebook friend, Mark Flatman saying they were bailing the flax in the fields around Trimley so I decided to head down on my bike later to check it out!

Bike ***

The nice weather continued though the morning so I could do my exercises in the garden while taking pics of our lovely cats, Benny and Rue:) Mag had to go to Lidl and I headed out on my bike at 11.35, through the woods at The Grove leading to Candlet Lane where the first field of flax was already bailed, apparently it is destined for Holland to be made into cotton! Then under the A 14 turning right where there are several more flax fields which were a hive of activity, three bailers were working flat out and I got several pics:) I carried onto Grimston Lane leading to our favouite tree lined route back to Felixstowe where I stop and watch a sweetcorn harvester at work. Then down through Felixstowe docks to the view point with the Goliath dredger working really close to the shore as a small fishing boat comes in surrounded by gulls:) Back along the prom and home for a top sandwich before going to an old field for a chat, cuppa and scone.
To end the day we are watching the amazing scenes of the Queen returning to Buckingham Palace, just could not believe the crowds on the 3 lane road leading to London!
